LITERARY MUSEUM (МУЗЕЙ ЛИТЕРАТУРНЫЙ ЛИТЕРАТУРНЫЙ)
If a visit to the museum does not make much sense for a tourist who does not speak Russian and does not really know the literature and history of this part of the world, the charming museum garden is probably worth a stop. This tree-lined courtyard with a fountain in the middle houses not only book presentations, but also a gallery of small statues which, although at first glance might seem strange, represent the main heroes of Odessa urban mythology. There are monuments dedicated to Odessa-mama, Rabinovitch - the Jewish hero of Odessa anecdotes -, the Antelope-Gnu - the legendary car from the novel The Golden Calf by Ilf and Petrov -, Sonka the fisherman and Sasha the musician - two characters from local folklore - and many others. The Duke of Richelieu was also entitled to his monument where he is represented in jeans. In fact, it seems that this fabric was invented in Odessa in 1866!
