VORONTSOV STREET (ПЕРЕУЛОК ПЕРЕУЛОК)
This small, quiet alleyway connects Primorski Boulevard with Ekateryninska Square. And you have to walk it from Primorsky Boulevard. It is one of the most charming places in Odessa. It seems that the houses here were built on the remains of the walls of the former Turkish fortress, which explains why the alley is all "twisted", which contrasts sharply with the geometric layout of the city.
House number two. Feel free to enter the courtyard this house. Here, a narrow staircase on the right descends through dazzlingly vegetated courtyards to Voennyi Spousk Street, almost at the foot of the Teschin Bridge. It is really an unusual corner of the city, a glimpse of old Odessa, with its tree-lined courtyards, its vegetable gardens in the centre and the laundry drying in the street.
House number four. Walking in its direction, or better yet, standing at the left end of its facade, you will have a surprise: you will feel as if you are in front of a house that only has one facade, like a magnificent theatre setting. Legend has it that during the construction of the house, during the time of the Russian Empire, the missing money for the side wall, it was necessary to reunite the front wall with the rear wall.
