At the beginning of the th century, Pyotr Simon Pallas, naturalist, geographer and long-class traveller bought a land to grow wine there. He named her, Karolinovska, in honour of his wife. It is at Pallas that the Crimea today owes its tradition of vineyards and its knowledge. Vineyards and plantations were renovated in the 1980 s and we can now visit them, but the harvest is only symbolic.
