ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE OF NEАPOLIS (NEАPOLIS)
Simferopol was once a scythe town, made of stone houses, palaces magnificently decorated with frescos and decorated with sculptures. But when the Huns and the Goths arrived so far, the city was devastated. In this way, the capital scythe became a field of ruins. Most of the inhabitants took refuge in the mountain, others returned on site and built «a little fortress», Kermenchik. Pus, a thousand years later, settled in the vicinity of this ancient town, at Ak-Mechet, a city built with the stones of Neopolis.
The latter disappeared almost entirely. It was only at the beginning of the th century that an amateur archaeologist regained bas-relief and warned the scientific world of Tsarist Russia. This discovery was part of a vast movement of the funeral monuments of the Scythians, the kourgans, throughout the Russian Empire. The vast part of the history of this people also fuels the romantic dreams of poets such as Alexander Blok. In Simferopol, excavations uncovered the site visible today. Located on a hill, from here you have a beautiful view of Simferopol.
