THE KALAMITA FORTRESS (КАЛАМИТА КАЛАМИТА)
The ruins of this fortress lie on a rock on the sea. They date back to the beginning of the th century when this territory was included in the principality of Feodoro. At that time, Forteresse fortress became an economic issue between Genoa and the principality of Feodoro and in 1433 the Genoese captured the Fortress. But soon the enemies came together to fight against their common enemy: the Turks. Without success, they were going to go. The fortress was reinforced by the Turkish army and was named Inkerman, «the fortress of the cellars», because of the presence of the Christian monastery dug on the rock between the th and th centuries on the same hill. There are about 200 cellars and several churches, only two of which have been preserved: Saint-Clément and Saint-Martin that you can see from the top of the fortress. The ruins are located in the suburbs of Inkerman, at the gates of the city, on the road by arriving from Simferopol.
