PLACE DE LA CONSTITUTION (КОНСТИТУЦÏÏ ПЛОЩА)

The square is dominated by a giant sculpture that recalls the designation of Kharkiv as the first Soviet capital on December 24, 1917. The locals ironically call him Five men wearing a fridge. There is also the Museum of History of Kharkiv (I сторичний музей) with an arms exhibition of the Second World War. Near the square, the church Pokrovski (Покровська церква), built in 1689, is the oldest in Kharkiv. Its three domes shine above the city. Its powerful walls are armed from the foothills, because the cathedral was used as a citadel of the Kremlin of Kharkiv.
