In the early 1900s a steamboat was (still) shipwrecked in the Gulf of Finland. The decision was made to build a lighthouse under the leadership of the architect Florentin Granholm. It is one of the most beautiful lighthouses in Finland and the highest in the Nordic countries - 52 m - with a breathtaking view, which was the subject of a long dispute between the Finns and the Soviets during the Continuation War. You can even sleep in a small hotel on the island. Pleasant cruise off Hanko, on the southernmost waters of the country.

A very pretty lighthouse on a desert island. Built on a superb broken into white horses rock, from which it is made.
The guided tour (in English) is very interesting.
The cruise is not cheap (58 € /p), and lunch served edge is frugal!
