Great place to visit on a daytrip. Not much to explore but it was beautiful. We went there in March so it was bit cold and grey but I believe in summers it will be much more beautiful and worthwhile to visit in summers.

Piękny widok z zewnątrz. Średniowieczna warownia położona na wyspie. Ale potem wchodzi się do środka i czar pryska. Dramatyczne rozczarowanie. Autorzy tego muzeum nie mieli pomysłu, co z tym zrobić. W efekcie cały dziedziniec jest przykryty brezentowym namiotem. Pod nim ustawiona jest metalowa konstrukcja, która udaje scenę i platformę dla publiczności. I wszystko udaje operę. Wrażenie totalnego placu budowy, bo na podłodze są surowe kamienie z piaskiem.
Zupełnym nieporozumieniem jest spacer z przewodniczka. Dziewczyna powiedziała może 400 słów, przeprowadzając towarzystwo przez cztery, chyba przypadkowo, wybrane miejsca. Chodzi się tam i z powrotem aż w pewnym miejscu, na scenie opery, mówi, ze koniec i pyta czy są pytania. Nasuwa się jedno - kiedy się czegoś dowiemy. Brakuje dziewczynie mocy. Może jakaś kawa by ja pobudziła.
Potem można jeszcze samemu się przejść po pozostałej części zamku, gdzie z przewodnikiem się nie dotarło. Na przykład na górny taras, zobaczyć ciekawsze widoki okolicy.
Podsumowując - zmarnowane 13 EUR i zmarnowany dobry pomysł na stworzenie wspaniałego miejsca do zwiedzania...

Bellissima la posizione.
Percorso facile da seguire.
Spoglio nelle varie stanze.
Si ammira la struttura fortificata, il significato ancora attuale dei conflitti passati tra Svezia, Finlandia e Russia....

Nello spazio esterno del cortile vengono fatti concerti e manifestazioni da primavera in poi...

In winter even more beautiful than in summer. And the tour guide in the castle in summer was right: the water does not freeze (minus 25 today, much colder the last weeks).

We came to this astonishing castle in the middle of lake Saimaa in February, and it was one of the best decisions. By far the best "touristic" place in the whole Finland. We had the entire castle for ourselves and the guides were so kind to make us a tour, even visiting forbidden places that are not accessible. Would recommend anyone who comes to Finland to visit Olavinlinna, you won't regret it.

It's a nice castle with a lot of history since xv century. However it has been extensively commercialised and modernised with restaurant and cafe that take space from visiting area and do not have any relevancy or ancient theme on them. If they had an ancient theme it would add value to the castle and to the experience. The opera part creates mixed feelings on me for the above reasons.
The guided tour explains many things and I suggest everyone to go on it. It lasts 45 minutes and you get to go to places otherwise forbidden.

Näyttävä linna, kun saavuimme paikalle. Pääsimme opastetulla kierroksella korkeaan torniin ja sinne mentäessä meinasi ottaa koville. Kokonaisuudessaan oli hieno kokemus.????
