A fireplace, a warm atmosphere, a lost corner and a quality cuisine, here is a perfect address for an evening north of the polar circle. Moreover, the reindeer shoulder on the wood fire, to be ordered for two, is delicious. If you are not a fan of meat, you can also be tempted by the many vegetarian dishes offered by the friendly couple of managers! The beautiful wine list perfectly completes the meal. As for the service and the kindness of the staff, nothing to say, everything is perfect. Laanilan Kievari: a refuge as we like them!

If you’re in the area, this place is a go-to. Get the reindeer shoulder - it’s so worth it! Coming from the states I was a little nervous this would be too gamey for me: it’s not at all. It’s cooked on an open fire right in front of you and served with mashed potatoes and veggies. This place has a great atmosphere and the waiter was really nice! 10/10 would recommend coming here for a great dinner. If you haven’t tried reindeer meat, this is a perfect spot to try it!

This place is a must if you’re nearby Saariselkä. Amazing ambiance, excellent service, and the best food I’ve had in this area. The owner was awesome and guided us through an extremely pleasant evening. The mushroom soup and fire roasted reindeer shoulder were the stars of the show but everything was honestly top notch. They have an extensive wine menu as well. Can’t speak highly of this place enough.

The mushroom soup was wonderful, also the fishmeal, and the home made aged reindeer ham too. Just perfect!

The owner is incredibly knowledgeable and takes pride in locally and sustainably made cuisine. Excellent quality and variety. Extensive wine list but don’t sleep on the cocktails!

If you’re in the area this is a must go! As soon as we walked in the door we knew we hot a gem. We were greeted with kindness and welcomed as if we were home. The cozy restaurant has a small table in front of an open fire where we enjoyed very delicious cocktails until our appetizers came out. The food was OUTSTANDING. We had mushroom soup and cured reindeer meat served with tomatoes prepared 3 different ways. Both delicious!! Then our main courses: pan seared mallard and reindeer tenderloin. Both cooked to perfection. The chef came out to greet us and was a joy to speak with and learn more about the food and preparations. Don’t skip dessert and ask about their special hot cocktails which are also delicious. They are only open. Short while longer and then will close until the season picks up. If you are in town…definitely go visit. You will not be disappointed. We loved it so much, we are actually going back tomorrow to enjoy some dishes we missed.

The service is outstanding. Cute and cozy atmosphere. Can’t go wrong.
