This Jesuit church with its austere and imposing architecture dates back to 1635. In 1767, the Jesuits were expelled from the Spanish colony. They could not recover their church until 1891. It contains a 1625 altarpiece, carried out by San Francisco's masterpiece, wooden sculptures and Vásquez paintings, a monstrance carved gold monstrance that its author José de Galaz put in close to 7 years to design.
