COLONIAL MUSEUM
Museum of colonial art housing a collection of furniture, paintings, jewelry, all kinds of objects from the colonial era
This beautiful colonial house, built by the Jesuits between 1555 and 1638, houses a fine museum of colonial art. A collection of furniture, paintings, wood carvings, jewelry, books and all kinds of objects from the colonial period, but also samples of Creole art, popular Mestizo art and Spanish-American art. Among the most important works are dozens of paintings and drawings by Gregorio Vásquez de Arce y Ceballos and sculptures and paintings by the School of Quito (Miguel de Santiago, Caspicara...).
