IGLESIA PARROQUIAL NUESTRA SEÑORA DEL ROSARIO
Very sober church, with a beautiful wooden altar in baroque style covered with gold and paintings from the colonial period
A beautiful and sober colonial church, built in 1604 with adobe, wood and stone. Facing the main square, its whiteness contrasts with the dark mountain just behind. The interior, which can be admired during mass, has a beautiful wooden altar in the baroque style covered with gold and works by the most famous painter of the colonial period, Gregorio Velásquez de Arce y Caballos. The temple hosted the first congress of the United Provinces of New Grenada in 1812.
