IGLESIA Y MUSEO DEL CARMEN
Museo del Carmen, considered one of the most beautiful religious art museums in the country, with hundreds of paintings
Located in the small square of the same name, this church was built in 1850 by the Dominican Joaquím Páez. The faithful gather here on July 16 to honor the Virgen del Carmen, patron saint of Villa de Leyva, and of truckers! Today, the church belongs to the Carmelite order, whose monastery is located next door. The Museo del Carmen is considered one of the most beautiful museums of religious art in the country, with hundreds of paintings, crucifixes and relics from the 17th to the 20th century.
