CASA DEL CONGRESO DE LAS PROVINCIAS UNIDAS
A colonial house in Villa De Leyva, hosting the first congress of Colombia and presenting documents of the time
On the corner of Calle Caliente, in the Plaza Mayor, this colonial house hosted the first congress of Colombia, then called United Provinces of New Granada, on September 25, 1812. It gathered delegates from the seven provinces. Those who are interested in the history of Independence will be able to look at documents from that time. The others will be satisfied to admire the curious paving stones with prehistoric fossil marks that cover the floor of the small patio.
