MUSEO ARQUEOLÓGICO ELIÉCER SILVA CELIS
Very interesting museum in Sogamoso, preserving the most important pieces of the Muisca culture that dominated the region
Founded in 1942 by the anthropologist Eliécer Silva Celis (1917-2007), above a Muisca cemetery, this very interesting museum preserves the most important pieces of the Muisca (Chibcha) culture that dominated the region before the Spanish colonization. Next to the museum, a ceremonial building has been reconstructed. It is in this Templo del Sol (Temple of the Sun) that Muisca celebrations are regularly held. A very complete anthropological museum to discover.
