Cant speak highly enough of Sams VIP!!! This place has it all. Best location right on the main plaza with a balcony that looks over the square. The staff and Sam himself are more that accommodating with every question I had. It felt like a home away from home! Ended up staying for a full week. :)
Nice hostel for sure, it has a nice aesthetic and it's pretty clean. The internet is really good if you have to work. The one thing I found annoying is that in order to enter the hostel you have to ring the bell and sometimes it takes a long time for the staff to open the door, which sometimes is problematic when you're carrying heavy stuff or are exhausted and just want to get in or maybe when you have a bathroom emergency. So be prepared for waiting. Another thing I found annoying was that one of the receptionists is constantly on her phone doing phone calls or watching videos and really ignores you when you have a question or so.
Old school hostel where everybody gathers on the rooftop patio at night to discuss the day’s adventures and plan tomorrow’s. This sort of place has gone out of style since COVID, which is a real shame.
However, it was only because of Mileyn, one of the reception people, that the place worked. She spoke English, was enthusiastic about getting people to go on adventures, and arranged a driver to the BGA airport (if you’re considering flying, look at the new local airport’s M/F flights)
Without Mileyn the place would be 3 or 4 stars because:
-cold showers
-hard beds
-no group activities
-loud
It’s still by far the best and most social hostel in town so you should stay here.
Really amazing spot! The location is exactly where you want to be in San Gil. We had a private room that was a great size and we even had an AC which was a nice surprise.
The service here goes above and BEYOND. The hostel provides all the adventure activities San Gil offers and they take care of everything from pick up, paperwork, and advice on how to have the best experience in your activities.
The staff is always incredibly friendly, not just to the point of providing a service but also to chat and receive guidance on how to best experience the trip.
Sam's VIP Hostel is a winner. It has a fabulous location just off the main plaza. The private room on the back side is quiet. Every thing is clean, clean, clean. A quick dip in the small pool will cool you down. Very nice full functioning kitchen. Great free coffee. Fabulous staff. Shout out to Daniela and Milena. Other guests really nice. Great butcher shop at the end of the block for the most amazing chorizos. We would come back to San Gill to stay at this hostel.
This hostel Reinvent the concept VFM! Everything in this hostel was really good. Prime location, good service, nice pool and sauna with view to the city. rooms and facilities were really nice and clean. The kitchen is one of the best you could find and stuff was really nice and attentive. If you go to San Gil do your self a favor and stay in this place you will not regret!
Propre.
