ISLA LUNA BEACH BARÚ
Hostel with a festive atmosphere, with a bar-resto under a large rancho, offering many beach activities
The famous hostel Media Luna in Getsemaní, offers a daily trip to its private beach on Barú, less than an hour from Cartagena. For a good beach day in a festive atmosphere, with a bar-resto under a big rancho (typical Caribbean cuisine with vegan and vegetarian options) and many beach activities: snorkeling, kayaks, paddle, beach volleyball... But the best thing is to spend the night in nice huts, without ruining yourself too much. In the evening, beer, guitars and campfires, right on the beach.

It would greatly improve things if there was a option to store your own food.
The bedroom is complete with mosquito net which is nice but there is no air conditioning and the fan is extremely loud, and mostly ineffective, making it impossible to sleep. There are no locks on the rooms or bathrooms and the door to my shower swung open meaning I had to hold it whenever I wanted to shower. Luckily I was the only person in the hostel but if it had been busy I would have been worried for my things and my privacy.
I had booked a week here but left after the second night because it was so restrictive, uncomfortable and I was unable to sleep. It was non-refundable (I think this might happen a lot so they see an opportunity to make more money by making it non-refundable). It was worth losing the money just to leave.
I would not recommended this place, it is not as advertised. I suggest you book 1 night maximum and see how you get on, don't make my mistake, you will lose a lot of money.
