Santa Barbara is the most surprising church of Mompox, with its emblematic octagonal tower, of Moorish baroque style. Its ochre color is very photogenic, even at night, with a beautiful illumination of the temple. Built in 1613, it is the only church in the country (and one of the few in the world) to have a balcony. The church is often closed, but it is sometimes possible to visit it and climb to the bell tower to enjoy a beautiful panoramic view. Inside, the altar dedicated to Saint Barbara and the wooden Mompox Cross, which is taken out during the processions.
