The Mouths of Ash take their name from the dark gray color of the river waters that mix with those of the ocean

The Magdalena River, the largest river in Colombia, has its source in the department of Huila, near San Agustin. After flowing between the Central and Eastern Cordilleras of the Andes, it empties into the Caribbean Sea in Bocas de Ceniza, 12 km from the Las Flores neighborhood. You can get there on a rustic train or rather a picturesque railroad car. The "Mouths of Ash" take their name from the dark gray color of the river waters that mix with those of the ocean in impressive eddies.

A special and unique place to visit in Barranquilla, reached after crossing Las Flores, an area where there are restaurants with views of Magdalena. On one side of the land end there is the blue of the Caribbean, other brown of the river Magdalena. Large ship go there. Inexpensive exit, but rather rustic "train". Unfortunately, there are many waste which is scattered throughout the floor. People live in huts. Plan a day.
