Brick building, located northeast of Plaza Cisneros, inaugurated in 1895, now housing the Ministry of Education
To the northeast of Plaza Cisneros (or Parque de la Luz), a beautiful ochre brick building, inaugurated in 1895. The work of the French architect Charles Emile Carré (1863-1909), who also designed the Medellín Cathedral. Carré, who lived in Medellín for several years, popularized the use of brick as a building material. The building now houses the Ministry of Education. Opposite it, the Edificio Vásquez, which is similar to it except for a few details, was built at the same time by Carré, at the request of a merchant named Eduardo Vásquez.
