5 km from Santa Fe, the Puente de Occidente is a suspension bridge over the Cauca River. It was built between 1887 and 1895, and is a civil engineering feat, with its 291 m length and 225 tons. The engineer from Antioquia, José María Villa, who also participated in the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge in New York, was in charge of the work. The Western Bridge is a symbol of the development and modernization of the Antioquia region and the country. The bridge was declared a National Monument in 1978. To cross it on foot.
