CATEDRAL DE MANIZALES
This neo-Gothic cathedral offers a panoramic view of the city from its vantage point
The cathedral held its first masses in 1939. Its unpolished concrete walls give it an unfinished look. It is the highest church in the country (106 m). This imposing structure of neo-Gothic style, with neo-Romanesque and Byzantine features, is honestly not very beautiful. Stained glass windows from France, Greece and Colombia embellish the interior. The vaults are built in a mixture of fine marble and rough cement. The main interest of the cathedral is its panoramic view of the city from its mirador, which is said to be one of the five highest in the world.
