MUSEO DEL ORO QUIMBAYA
Gold Museum or Quimbaya Museum located in the northeast of the city, presenting a collection of beautiful gold objects
The Gold Museum is one of a series of three Banco de la República museums dedicated to the Quimbayas. For us, it's the finest of the three (the other two are in Manizales and Pereira). The collection contains some very fine gold objects, and provides a detailed insight into the splendid Quimbaya civilization that lived in pre-Columbian territory in the 14th century. Now extinct, it remains famous for its production of gold objects. The museum is located in the north of the city, in a building designed by the famous architect Rogelio Salmona.
