JARDÍN BOTÁNICO DEL QUINDÍO
Guided tours by biologists, in the botanical garden with palms, heliconias and bamboo varieties
The Quindío Botanical Garden, created in 1979, is dedicated to conservation, research and environmental education. It boasts 850 plant species spread over 15 hectares. On a tour guided by biologists, you'll see palms (210 species out of 255 in Colombia), heliconias and varieties of bamboo, including 17 species of guadua. The huge butterfly farm (680 m²), shaped like a butterfly, is the largest in the country. It is home to some 40 species of Lepidoptera.
