It is the most important cultural and religious event in Chocó. Quibdó celebrates its patron saint, St. Francis of Assisi, renamed San Pacho, by the locals. Orchestras, theatrical performances and joyful parades animate the neighborhoods. On October 3, San Pacho travels the Atrato River on a raft, before the solemn procession on the malecón the next day. These celebrations, which combine religious and pagan expressions, were inscribed in 2012 on the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
