Sanctuary consisting of a striking neo-Gothic church built on a stone bridge crossing the canyon of the Rio Guaitara
Nuestra Señora de las Lajas is located 8 km from Pasto, on the road to Potosí. This sanctuary is made up of an impressive neo-Gothic church, built on a stone bridge that crosses the canyon of the River Guáitara. On the cliffs, there are numerous ex-votos testifying that Mary does not forget the Colombians and Ecuadorians, who come here by the thousands, especially during Holy Week, or at the beginning of September, when Nuestra Señora de las Lajas is celebrated. A museum traces the history of the sanctuary and gives some information about the region.
