CABAÑAS ALTO DEL ÁGUILA
These eight wooden houses are both a traveler's hostel and a refuge for injured forest animals
Eight wooden houses on a hill overlooking the river. It is both a hostel for travelers and a refuge for injured forest animals: they are cared for and released back into the wild if possible. Some of them stay, like these beautiful guacamayas or these turbulent capuchin monkeys. The whole place is charming but rustic, do not be too demanding. The hostal is run by a friendly missionary, el Fray ("the brother", a capuchin precisely!), with a heart of gold. Tours can be arranged. The monkeys are sticky but it is a funny experience.
