The work of the academic sculptor Ante Gržetić, this imposing statue was erected on the occasion of the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the founding of Cetinje. Located between the Palace of King Nicholas and the National History Museum, it represents Ivan Crnojević (literally Ivan the Black). Part of the dynasty of the Zeta princes, Ivan the Black was ruler of the Zeta kingdom from 1465 to 1490 and founded the city of Cetinje in 1482. Montenegrins are grateful to him.
