Cathedral built on the ruins of an early Christian basilica in Barletta.
Built on the ruins of an early Christian basilica from the 6th century, Barletta Cathedral was consecrated in 1267. It has two styles of architecture, both on its façade and inside: the first, Romanesque, dating from the 12th century, and the second, Gothic (presbytery and apse), dating from the 14th century. It was in Barletta Cathedral that Ferdinand I of Aragon was crowned King of Naples on 4 February 1459.
