Ancient remains: Roman temple, Roman baths and examples of funerary architecture in Canosa
Several ancient remains are scattered throughout the city. Among them, the Roman temple of Giove Toro (Via Imbriani), the Roman thermal baths of Lomuscio (Via Venezia), and examples of funerary architecture with hypogeums dug into the tufa (ipogeo dell'Oplita, del Cerbero...). The Lagrasta hypogeums form the largest underground complex in Canosa and one of the largest in southern Italy. They actually consist of three separate hypogeums, used by the local aristocracy from the 4th to the 1st century BC. They show some traces of painting in places.
