TRULLO SOVRANO
The largest trullo in Alberobello, with one floor and supporting twelve conical roofs
Sovrano, which means "sovereign", refers to the unusual proportions of this trullo built in the 18th century. Classified as a National Monument in 1930, it has one floor and supports twelve conical roofs, one of which is 14 metres high. It is the largest trullo in Alberobello and has been used for various purposes since its construction: chapel, pharmacy, monastery, etc., before becoming the property of the Sumerano family in 1861. Inside, the well reconstructed layout resembles a small museum on the popular traditions of the region.
