CASTELLO
Castle built by Frederick II in 1230, which houses the national archaeological museum.
The building, which occupies an advantageous position on the road from Bari to Taranto, was built by Frederick II in 1230 on ancient Byzantine and Norman fortifications. It is said that Manfred, the son of Frederick II and Bianca Lancia, was born in this castle. Its characteristics lie in the frames, the beautiful limestone and the marble of its windows. The National Archaeological Museum, located on the ground floor of the castle, exhibits objects from the necropolises of Monte Sannace and Santo Mola.
