CASTELLO ACQUAVIVA D'ARAGONA
Castle built in the Norman period, which protected the inhabitants from power struggles.
Possession of the Counts of Conversano for seven centuries, the castle was built in the Norman era, in 1054. It elegantly dominates the central square of Conversano with its wide trapezoidal structure. It has been renovated and retains its original square tower and an imposing cylindrical tower. This ancient citadel, which protected the inhabitants from power struggles, now houses the Paolo Domenico Finoglio Picture Gallery and an exhibition of period costumes.
