Church of Romanesque-Gothic style, preceded by a double flight of baroque stairs.
In 1223 Frederick II built the Rocca Imperiale (Imperial Fortress) on this site. The church of San Domenico now stands on its ruins. It is in Romanesque-Gothic style and has a sober, slender façade with a Gothic portal and a rose window. It is preceded by a double flight of baroque stairs. The interior houses the statue of the Mother of Sorrows, which is carried around the city on the evening of Thursday of Holy Week.
