PALAZZO DUCALE
Palace that now houses the Town Hall and the Isidoro Chirulli Library
The Ducal Palace was built in 1668 by Duke Petracone Caracciolo on the ruins of the 14th century castle of Raimondello Orsini. Recent studies would indicate that Bernini himself approved the project due to Giovanni Andrea Carducci. The interior has a succession of rooms decorated with eighteenth-century frescoes. The most beautiful room is probably that of the Arcadia, decorated by Domenico Carella, an allegorical representation of the benefits of nature. Today the palace houses the Town Hall and the Isidoro Chirulli Municipal Library.
