DUOMO
Romanesque cathedral with beautiful mosaics from the 12th century
In the cathedral of Brindisi was celebrated the marriage of Frederick II and Yolande de Brienne (his second wife). Originally Romanesque in style, the cathedral and its baroque bell tower were rebuilt after the earthquake of 1743. It preserves beautiful mosaics of the 12th century discovered under the pavement of the apse, whose style is similar to those of the cathedral of Otranto. Inside, in the shape of a Latin cross with three naves, there is also the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, decorated with polychrome marble altars and majolica floors.
