PALAZZO DEL SEMINARIO
Palace with a precious relic brought by the Crusaders on their return from Jerusalem
Located in Cathedral Square, the Seminary Palace was designed by the architect Mauro Manieri in the 18th century. Its majestic baroque façade is decorated with eight statues symbolizing science. The palace possesses a precious relic, the "Idria di Cana", brought by the Crusaders on their return from Jerusalem. It is the only existing vase in which Jesus, at the Wedding of Cana, is said to have transformed water into wine. Almost opposite, on the Via Tarantini, the 14th-century Loggia Balsamo, with its Gothic arcades, housed the Angevin monetary workshop.
