CHIESA SAN NICOLA DI PÀTARA
Church built on an ancient early Christian church of Basilian monks in Cisternino.
Facing the Norman tower, the Mother Church of Cisternino was built in the 14th century on an ancient early Christian church of Basilian monks. It was rebuilt several times. The neoclassical façade, crowned by a tympanum and punctuated by pilasters, was erected in the 19th century to replace the previous Romanesque one. In the right wing stands the Madonna del Cardellino, a magnificent example of Apulian Renaissance sculpture, made in 1517 by Stefano da Putignano.
