PALAZZO BARONALE LOPEZ Y ROYO
Small fortress built by the Monteri barons, lords of the city in Monteroni Di Lecce
Built in the 16th century by the Barons Monteroni, lords of the city, this small fortress was acquired in the following century by the Lopez y Royo family, nobles of Spanish origin. A member of this illustrious family, Filippo Lopez y Royo, was archbishop of Palermo and viceroy of Sicily. They transformed the imposing structure into a residential residence. The entrance portal, framed by Corinthian columns and surmounted by a broken tympanum, dates from this period.
