Beautiful beaches, some of which offer private services in the area around Otranto
Around Otranto, the beaches are all splendid. Towards the north, there is the baia dei Turchi ("Bay of the Turks"; it is on this beach that the Turks landed before the massacre of Otranto in 1480), the baia di Alimini, the beaches of Torre dell'Orso and Torre Specchia Ruggeri, watched over by ancient watchtowers from the 16th century. On the programme: white sand, water the colour of the Maldives, creeks that are sometimes wild and only accessible on foot. Some offer private services.
