CASTELLO
Castle overlooking the town of Ugento, property of the Del Amore family.
For more than a thousand years, the castle of Ugento has dominated the city. After an eventful history (Norman fortress then Angevin, destroyed by the pirate Barbarossa in 1537), the building was bought in 1643 by the Marquis Del Amore who transformed it into an elegant baroque palace. The visit allows you to admire the rooms on the first floor with ceilings decorated with frescoes on mythological and religious subjects. They have recently been carefully restored. The castle, still owned by the Del Amore family, also houses a 5-star hotel.
