CATTEDRAL
One of the best preserved Angevin monuments in southern Italy, built by Charles of Anjou.
It is one of the best preserved Angevin monuments in southern Italy. This beautiful building, 102 m long and 36 m wide, was built in 1300 by Charles d'Anjou. The interior, divided into three naves, houses a high altar from the time of Frederick II, from Castelfiorentino (Tuscany). According to legend, it was the Emperor's banqueting table. An interesting detail is that the columns of the transept come from a mosque, which had also recovered them from Roman temples. Some valuable paintings, including a Last Supper of Palma the Younger (1544-1628).
