ABBAZIA SAN LEONARDO
Very beautiful example of Apulian Romanesque architecture in Manfredonia.
A stopover for pilgrims on the Via Sacra, the abbey, founded in the 12th century, is a beautiful example of Romanesque architecture in Puglia. It stands out in particular for the decorative richness of its carved portal. Inside there are two small openings in the vaults: these are two gnomonic holes, letting in a ray of sunshine, one at the summer solstice, the other at the spring and autumn equinoxes. You can attend one of the masses celebrated from Monday to Saturday at 6 pm (except Wednesday) and Sunday at 11 am.
