Romanesque church famous for its Byzantine frescoes in Monte Sant'Angelo.
This Romanesque church is especially famous for its Byzantine frescoes, especially those of the Archangel Saint Michael. On the beautifully carved portal there is a representation of the "Mater Dei" on its throne, surrounded by the archangels St. Michael and St. Gabriel, Costanza and his son Frederick II, kneeling. Nearby is the "Tomb of Rothari", in fact a 12th century baptistery covered with a dome and decorated with bas-reliefs.
