Sanctuary with a Byzantine fresco of the XIV century, near Barile.
You can go and have a look at the sanctuary of Our Lady of Constantinople (from the 17th century but which succeeds an older building), 1 kilometre from Barile. Tradition has it that the origin of the sanctuary can be traced back to a peasant who, in a dream, saw the Virgin Mary, who told him where, while digging, he would find her image painted on the tufa. Inside there is a 14th century Byzantine mural fresco depicting a Virgin and Child.
