DUOMO
Cathedral with a majestic crucifix, one of the most significant examples of woodcarving in Italy, in Rapolla.
The cathedral is enthroned at the top of the village. It is an imposing 13th century building with a Romanesque portal and a strange bell tower dating back to 1209 and signed by the master Sarolo of Muro Lucano. The latter also made the two bas-reliefs visible on the right side of the building representing the Original Sin and the Annunciation. The majestic crucifix of the cathedral, made of polychrome wood from the 13th century, is certainly one of the most significant examples of woodcarving in southern Italy.
