PALAZZO EPISCOPIO
Episcopal palace with a diocesan museum and a pinacoteca, exhibiting sacred paintings, next to the Duomo.
Right next to the Duomo, in a pleasant pedestrian square, the Episcopal Palace, built by the Normans in the 11th century, was then redesigned until the 18th century. From this period it preserves the façade with wrought iron balconies, the inner courtyard embellished with a baroque style fountain and the main staircase. Inside, the lounges with their lush Baroque decoration house the Diocesan Museum (17th-19th century goldsmith's and liturgical vestments) and the Pinacoteca, which exhibits a collection of sacred paintings from the city's churches.
