ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK
Archaeological site presenting an ancient district of Venosa.
Excavations near the city have uncovered a district of Venosa from the time of Imperial Rome. The site includes an amphitheatre from the 1st century AD, which bears witness to the importance and splendour of the ancient city; a domus, a patrician house from the 1st century AD, known as the House of Horace; and a magnificent complex of thermal baths from the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD. Inside, the frigidarium, a part of the baths where cold baths are taken, in which fragments of a mosaic remain.
