Cathedral of Romanesque-Gothic style in Acerenza, one of the most beautiful monuments of Basilicata.
It is one of the most beautiful monuments in Basilicata. Built in 1080 on a former early Christian church by Archbishop Arnaldo and rebuilt in 1281, it is built on the model of the former Cluny Abbey, in a Romano-Gothic style. The stone façade was reworked in the 16th century. The middle portal is a beautiful example of pure Pugliese Romanesque style. Inside, in Latin cross form, a magnificent Renaissance crypt (1524) houses the bust of the Emperor Giuliano the Apostate (Julian the Apostate), from the 4th century.
