CHIESA ANNUNZIATA
Church of the XVI century with a beautiful portal in front of the obelisk of San Biagio in Maratea.
As a testimony of the deep religious faith that animates it, Maratea is also known for its 44 chapels, churches, abbeys and ancient hermitages scattered over the territory, which have earned it the name of "city of 44 churches". The Church of the Annunciation is one of these, built in the 16th century. It has a beautiful portal flanked by two stone lions and, above all, a dome covered with majolica. Opposite it stands the obelisk of San Biagio, the patron saint of the city (1738). Its construction was financed by the inhabitants of Maratea.
